The event is co-sponsored by the Humanities Institute, the Donald P. Bellisairo College of Communications, the School of International Affairs, and the Center for Character, Conscience and Public Purpose.

Joe Little, director of storytelling and a multimedia journalist for KNSD-TV in San Diego, has earned 12 Emmy Awards and was a finalist for the National Press Photographers Association's Photojournalism Award for Reporting in 2017. His TV career started at stations in central Pennsylvania and he has traveled the country since. He is serving as the Pennsylvania Association of Broadcasters Visiting Professional in the Bellisario College.

Panel Discussion and Film Screening: “Student-Athlete”

Free public event featuring co-director/producer Trish Dalton, cinematographer John Sears and lawyer Tim Nevius with a screening of the HBO Documentary "Student-Athlete," and a subsequent panel disucssion with those three and Penn State faculty members Pearl Gluck and John Affleck. The documentary film from HBO Sports, LeBron James and Maverick Carter’s SpringHill Entertainment, and Steve Stoute’s United Masters follows former players, a former coach that now advocates for players, and a whistle-blowing shoe rep ready to expose the money trail of high-profile college sports.

For about 11 days next August-September, eight students -- plus faculty -- will travel to Tokyo, Japan, to cover the Paralympics for The Associated Press for academic credit. A one-credit prep course next spring will be followed by a three-credit course in the fall. Interested? Want to learn more? Good! Then please come to this 45-minute informational meeting.
