“Making Media Work”

Faculty member Michelle Rodino-Colocino, an associate professor in the Deparment of Advertising/Public Relations, will present "Making Media Work: A Cultural History of New Media and Labor Management in the United States, 1910-2020" as part of the Faculty Scholars in Residence Series presented by the College of the Liberal Arts at Penn State. A light lunch starts at 11:45 a.m. and the presentation will begin promptly at noon. The session is free and open to the public.

Location: Hetzel Lounge and Art Alley, HUB-Robeson Center

Artists Allison Shelly and Sarah Silbiger will be featured discussing the 2019 Juried Exhibition: Women Photojournalists of Washington at the HUB-Robeson Galleries. Women Photojournalists of Washington is a nonprofit organization dedicated to educating the public about the work and accomplishments of owmen in the field of visual journalism. The exhibition, co-sponored by the Bellisario College, runs from March 9 until April 5. While Shelly and Silbiger are on campus, they will visit with classes in the Bellisario College as well. The talk and exhibition are free and open to the public.

Penn State Sports Business Conference

The Penn State Sports Business Conference was created by a passionate group of undergraduate students in the Smeal College of Business, Donald P. Bellisario College of Communications, and the School of Hospitality Management. The student-run conference is more than an annual event. It provides a platform for students and professionals to connect and develop meaningful relationships. Since the conference's inception it has fostered internship and career placement opportunities for Penn State students in the sports, tech and media industries. The overarching goal is to inspire, motivate and educate future generations of the sports business industry at Penn State. Sessions Friday will be at Beaver Stadium. Sessions Saturday at the Nittany Lion Inn.

One-Day Law School for Journalists

The challenge of reporting on the legal system without a law degree can be daunting. This free one-day intensive program on the court system supports journalists and others in the media who have little experience covering the courts or who want to be sure they are on top of all current issues. This program is a collaboration among Pennsylvanians for Modern Courts, Penn State Law, and Penn State's Donald P. Bellisario College of Communications.
