Fox Graduate School at Penn State Graduate Application Fee Waiver Request
The Office of Graduate Educational Engagement Programs (OGEEP) in the Fox Graduate School coordinates graduate application fee waiver requests. Individual waivers are not granted to students simply based on identifying with a particular racial or ethnic group.
To be eligible for an OGEEP fee waiver, an applicant must meet at least one of the requirements below:
- A participant in a Big Ten Academic Alliance (BTAA) Summer Research Opportunities Program ( Applicants must provide written confirmation of their SROP participation)
- A participant in the TRIO Ronald E. McNair Scholars Program (Applicants must provide written confirmation of their McNair participation)
- Met with a recognized Penn State Recruiter (Applicants must provide the name of the Penn State Recruiter and the activity/event where they met with the recruiter)
- Member of The National GEM Consortium
- Attended any of the following minority serving institutions: Cheney University (PA), Florida A&M University, Lincoln University (PA), or Xavier University of Louisiana

Once a fee waiver request is received, OGEEP will confirm eligibility. An applicant who is approved for a fee waiver will receive additional instructions to complete the process. Applicants who do not meet eligibility criteria are encouraged to reach out directly to the graduate program or department they are applying to. Many graduate programs or departments may have their own fee waiver process or alternative support options available for applicants with financial needs.
Other Points:
- An applicant should keep in mind graduate program application deadlines and should request a fee waiver at least one week prior to the application deadline to avoid challenges with their submission.
- It can take up to 7-10 business days to process an approved fee waiver.
