Guest Lecture: Michael Humphrey
Time: 3:30 pm – 4:30 pm
Location: Assembly Room, Nittany Lion Inn
Distinguished visiting scholar Michael Humphrey will present a free public lecture titled "The Flourishing 'I': Anscombe and the Ethics of Life Narrative in Digital Space." Humphrey’s research focuses on life narratives and persona-creation on social media sites. He has applied the findings to issues such as troll-hunting, the Black Lives Matter movement, scientist personae, presidential elections and YouTube celebrity. He is currently working on a book that investigates YouTube family vlogs and the massive, but fragile, digital kinship narratives they engender. He teaches digital storytelling and entrepreneurial journalism at Colorado State University. The event is sponsored by the Don W. Davis Program in Ethical Leadership in the Donald P. Bellisario College of Communications.
