Maymester in Manhattan
New York City / May 5-9, 2024
A weeklong opportunity to interact with alumni and media professionals, and to participate in special opportunities in New York City for a select group of students in the Donald P. Bellisario College of Communications.
The Maymester in Manhattan is an "experiential career exploration" opportunity open to all students in the Bellisario College. We will select 12 to 14 students to participate. The experience would be an excellent opportunity for first- and second-year students to determine if New York City is a good fit for them for future internships or entry-level employment.
Those selected must pay for .5 credit of tuition during Summer 2024 (an additional .5 credit during the spring semester will be at no cost if selected student is full-time during the spring semester). In addition, selected students will be responsible for a $500 course fee and incidentals (such as meals that are not covered by alumni who may host lunches or dinners).
Students and Bellisario College administrators and staff will stay together at a hotel in New York City, with that location to be announced.
Applications MUST include:
- a brief statement of interest explaining why they are interested in exploring/learning more about media in Manhattan and why they would be a strong candidate (letters may be no more than one page, double-spaced, 12-point Helvetica font)
- an updated resume
- names and contact information for three references. (At least once must be a Bellisario College faculty member.
Applications for the Maymester in Manhattan will be accepted until 5 p.m. Friday, Feb. 2, 2024.
