Gillian Diebold

Gillian Diebold is a first-year Ph.D. student researching the political economy of AI literacy. Her work investigates how corporate interests shape public understanding of AI and the resulting implications for equity, civic participation and public decision-making. Using qualitative and mixed methods approaches, her work explores how people learn about AI, how institutions procure and adopt AI tools and how education policy can equip the public to critically engage with AI’s social impact.

She holds an master's degree from the Oxford Internet Institute and a bachelor's degree from the University of Pennsylvania in communication and political science.
