Hannah Xiangruo Huang

Hannah Xiangruo Huang earned her bachelor's degree from the City University of Hong Kong and is currently pursuing a Ph.D. in Mass Communications at The Pennsylvania State University.

Her research interests lie in media effects and game studies, with a focus on video games as complex cultural artifacts that shape media experiences, online communities, fan culture, and gender dynamics in digital spaces. She is particularly interested in the intersection of video game studies and positive psychology, exploring how games can provide both entertainment and meaningful experiences, as well as their potential to promote emotional well-being and personal insight. More broadly, she is interested in understanding how interactive media can contribute to public discourse and engage people with important social issues.

Outside of academia, Hannah is an enthusiastic gamer who enjoys exploring games across a wide range of genres. She also loves watching movies and TV shows and is currently teaching herself to play the electric guitar.
