Jingyi Guo

I am a Ph.D. candidate in Mass Communications and Women’s, Gender, and Sexuality Studies. My research engages with three areas: datafication and surveillance, feminisms, and critical and cultural media studies. Drawing on ethnographic fieldwork, my ongoing research examines China’s datafied state through gender, labor, and decolonial lenses. Broadly, I am studying data collection and surveillance, and their relationship with social inequalities.
