Qianhui (Elena) Chen

Qianhui Chen's current research interests lie in the intersection of human-computer interaction, media psychology and interpersonal communication. She aims to understand how intelligent information technology influences people to facilitate diverse meaningful interactions.

Empathy is a key theme in her recent research. She studies how to design AI to appropriately "empathize" with people, and how to design AI to help people empathize with one another.
