Yuxuan Jin

Yuxuan (Lawrence) Jin (he/him) is a Ph.D. student at Donald P. Bellisario College of Communications at Penn State. He holds a master’s degree in Mass Communication from the University of Florida and a bachelor’s degree in Journalism from Xiamen University Malaysia.

His research lies at the intersection of political communication, communication technology, and media psychology. He studies how people navigate fragmented and increasingly complex media environments in their everyday lives, and how these experiences shape the ways they understand and engage with politics and public life. His research examines the cognitive, affective, and social-identity processes through which people interact with media content, other people, and communication technologies. He is also interested in how these interactions and their effects unfold, accumulate, and change over time. Ultimately, his work seeks to understand the individual-level conditions from which an informed citizenry and healthy democratic publics can emerge. In his free time, Yuxuan enjoys traveling, chatting with friends, and practicing photography.
