Arienne Ferchaud received a bachelor's degree in mass communication with a concentration in advertising from Louisiana State University. After leaving LSU, Ferchaud embarked on a master of arts in media studies from Penn State, where she studied video games and narrative theory, with her master's thesis exploring the role of moral choice in video game engagement.

Now getting her Ph.D., Ferchaud has broadened her research interests to include new media entertainment, tackling phenomena including relationships in user-generated content, binge watching, and a continued focus on entertainment narratives, and has presented her research at conferences of the International Communication Association and National Communication Association.
