Join us in State College, Pa., for professional development workshops developed by the National Association of Science Writers, briefings on scientific research presented by the Council for the Advancement of Science Writing, and lab tours and science field trips organized by Penn State on and around its University Park campus. Darryl "DMC" McDaniels, founding member of the legendary hip-hop group Run-DMC, will be the featured speaker in a session focusing on mental health. The talk is free and open to the public, sponsored by College of Arts and Architecture, the Donald P. Bellisario College of Communications, the Penn State Office of the Vice Provost for Educational Equity, Penn State Student Disability Resources, and the Smeal College of Business Office of Diversity Enhancement Programs.

Information session for studens about 2020 summer internships and paid part-time positions with Little League International and the Little League World Series. A once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for hands-on experience at an international sporting event. Postions include: video highlights editors, on-field camera operators, staff photographers, writers, and a sponsorship activiation position.

Science Communication Plenary

National journalists discuss how the media is changing and what it means for communicating science to the public and policymakers. They will share their personal perspectives on how to get your stories told, what makes a good science story, as well as “dos and don’ts” of dealing with journalists. A Q&A and reception with light refreshments will follow.
