Alumnus Brett King is a producer, creative consultant and DEI executive skilled in programming, content development, TV and film production, pipeline development and DEI strategies. He has devoted most of his adult life to the training, protection and fostering of creators. The free public event is sponsored by the Department of African American Studies.

Lunchtime Conversation
Elizabeth Ellcessor

The Bellisario College welcomes Elizabeth Ellcessor for a lunchtime conversation with graduate students. Ellcessor is an associate professor of media studies at the University of Virginia, Senior Faculty Fellow at the Miller Center, and the co-editor of JCMS: Journal of Cinema and Media Studies. Her research focuses on questions of access and equity in contemporary media, particularly with respect to disability and embodied difference. Her new book, "In Case of Emergency: How Technologies Mediate Criss and Normalize Inequality" (2022), considers how 9-1-1, sirens, social media,and other technologies create and shape the concept of “emergency” for diverse publics. Limited copies of Ellcessor’s book are available as well. Attendance is capped at 12.
