State championships in student journalism competition sponsored by the Pennsylvania School Press Association and hosted by the Donald P. Bellisario College of Communications. Students who advanced from regional competitions earlier in the year will compete in a dozen different writing, design or artistic categories on the University Park campus.

Info Session: Inside-Out Prison Exchange Program

Reshaping Media Narratives teaches the power of personal storytelling both inside and outside prison walls. Students in the class will spend the fall semester in a transformative and inclusive mixed modal setting, bringing traditional college students and incarcerated student to learn together inside a local county jail.

Conversations Live: Media Literacy

WPSU-TV takes a closer look at media literacy. Host Bill Hallman, a lecturer in the Department of Telecommunications and Media Industries, will be joined by Matt Jordan, an associate professor and head of the Department of Film Production and Media Studies, as well as Kelley Cotter, an assistant professor in the College of Information Sciences and Technology, as they discuss what constitutes quality journalism, choosing legitimate news sites, the role of social media on news, the potential impacts of AI on news and media, and other related topics.
