Bellisario Media Center Usage Policy

Purpose

The purpose of this policy is to establish guidelines for the access and use of the production facilities and equipment in the Bellisario Media Center (Willard Building) in order to ensure that they are used in a safe, responsible, and efficient manner.

The Bellisario College of Communications facilities and equipment are to be used by the faculty, staff and students in the Bellisario College.

Scope

This policy applies to the use of the production facilities and equipment in the Bellisario Media Center (Willard Building). This policy applies to all users of the Bellisario Media Center and/or equipment and technology under the purview of the College.

Eligibility

Access to Media Center facilities and equipment is prioritized for students enrolled in academic programs in the College. Access may also be available to students involved College-directed productions, certain College-advised productions, and approved special projects. The Dean or a designee may grant access to the Bellisario Media Center or its equipment and technology to users outside the College. The Dean may also grant specific exceptions to this policy.

Users falling into these categories also must meet the following criteria:

• Have completed the Bellisario-provided training for the facilities and equipment that they intend to use.
• Use the facilities and equipment for authorized curricular, co-curricular or research purposes only, as outlined in this policy.

Users who do not meet the eligibility criteria may be denied access to the facilities and equipment.

Penalties for Misuse

Anyone who misuses the facilities or equipment may be subject to disciplinary action, up to and including loss of access. They may also be held responsible for any losses the University incurs.
