We are looking for someone who knows a story when they see it, then is able tell it after they see it. If you believe you fit the bill, our current opening for a reporter at The Derrick and The News-Herald, two family-run newspapers in western Pennsylvania's scenic Oil Region, could be the job for you. Available general assignment reporter positions include governmental and school board coverage along with plenty of opportunity for features and proactive reporting (stories that seek solutions to community issues) as opposed to reactive (police reports, although there will be a fair share of those).
We publish for a region in which our print product remains strong, but we also are moving at a fast pace in delivering news to our website, www.TheDerrick.com, and various social media platforms. The work schedule varies and includes evenings.
