Job Description
Strategic Planning

Develops and implements an overall communications strategy that will advance DaVita's reputation, growth goals, and media presence in collaboration with Senior Leadership, the corporate communications team, and representatives of other departments

Ensures that the media component of the overall communications strategy is targeted and up-to-date; proactively research communications efforts as appropriate
Develops and implements creative and proactive internal communications to highlight programs and activities

Internal Communications

  • Produces documents, articles, and resources to communicate corporate culture and company brand that reinforce the mission, vision, values and the DaVita way. Ensure these communication vehicles are interrelated in order to bring synergies around the delivery of messages.
  • Designs, creates and manages clear, measurable and compelling internal communications platforms, programs and efforts that deliver a satisfying teammate experience and drive integration with the overall Village efforts
  • Maintains the internal production schedule/calendar for the communications department, insuring projects are executed within a designated time frame and meet deadlines
  • Writes and maintains department guidelines and policies as directed by senior management
  • Develops and guides graphic design for all communications pieces; may design documents and/or oversee work of external designers
  • Consistently delivers communication across all available platforms to ensure message is received by all teammates (i.e. email communication is replicated via PNN, posters, memos and any other available tools)
  • Partner with senior management to determine the most effective vehicles for internal communications initiatives
  • Create and maintain effective channels for eliciting feedback from the organization to ensure communications meet the needs and expectations of the audience. This includes creating a feedback structure using surveys, polls and other measures
  • Provide ongoing and meaningful metric/measurement reports to determine communication

Provide ad hoc and reactive communications as needed

Event Planning & Management

  • Responsible for organizing and managing a wide range of events including but not limited to: press conferences, annual meetings and internal/external teammate events
  • Manage all communications related to event
  • Manage Request for Proposal process; determine vendors
  • Manage budget, agenda, venues, audio visual, food and beverage, and vendors in-conjunction with activities, transportation and other operational logistics
  • Compile necessary presentation materials
  • Provide recommendation to departments with regard to event management decision
  • Provide post activities summaries, metrics survey, survey results and future recommendations for senior executives
  • Manage internal event planning team and bring ideas to senior leadership
  • Ensure that all-teammate events are approved by GM/VP and logged on Master Calendar

Community Outreach

Ensure lab-sponsored charitable events are consistent with DaVita branding, culture, values and policies
Coordinate stewardship of charitable resources

Public Relations/Marketing

  • Develop public relations material including press releases, editorial content, speaking abstracts, stories, etc. to promote DaVita as requested
  • Work with content experts to review and/or edit material and ensure review by Justice League
  • Research, develop, and place media (print, radio, web, film and video) for DaVita
  • Responsible for managing readiness materials such as PowerPoint, trainings, videos, and documents
  • Develop promotional materials and campaigns: direct mail/blast fax/Internet, PR campaigns, advertising, and promotional slides
  • Collaborate with content experts to review and/or edit material and ensure review by legal and compliance

Other

  • Manage and attend necessary industry conferences and trade shows
  • Ensure compliance with DaVita policies and procedures
  • Liaison to corporate entities as appropriate including hosting of Executive/VIP guests
  • Perform other duties as assigned
  • Travel required up to 20%
  • Other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in communications, marketing, journalism or related degree preferred;
Minimum of 1-2 years internal communications and/or media outreach experience required including a

Experience In Corporate Communications Role Demonstrating This Experience And Knowledge

Healthcare public relations experience or knowledge of healthcare issues preferred
Intermediate computer skills and proficiency in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook required; Publisher highly preferred
