Producer Development Program
TEGNA / WFAA-TV (Dallas)
We are now accepting applications for the January 2017 Broadcast Producer Development Program class! We’re looking for three new graduates, recent graduates with a goal of becoming a producer, to be a part of our Broadcast Producer Program at WFAA-TV in Dallas, Texas, who can develop a vision for their newscast and work with a team of multimedia journalists to carry it out.
The goal of the program is that upon successful completion of the 21 week period, the participant will apply and secure role as a broadcast producer, for TEGNA, at one of the smaller markets.
PDP participants are benefit eligible (medical, dental, vision, 401k, vacation/sick time etc) and work an average of 40 hours per week. This is a non-exempt/hourly position that pays $15/hour. Participants who are accepted into the program receive a $1500 sign-on bonus, payable on or around their first pay check date. Upon successful completion of the program, participants who obtain a role as Broadcast Producer within TEGNA are provided with a $1500 relocation bonus, payable by the receiving station, on or around the participants first pay check date at the new station.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
- Role responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Overseeing production aspects for newscasts
- Planning creative graphics and production elements for segments
- Generating content for on-air, online and mobile products
- Participating in editorial meetings, offering ideas and guidance for content development
- Here’s what you need:
- Bachelor’s degree or higher
- Strong academic performance (3.2 min. overall GPA)
- Professional initiative as evident through completed internships and/or work experience
- Proficiency with digital and social mediums
- Skills in critical thinking and creative problem solving
- Applicants are required to have personal transportation, a valid driver’s license and successfully complete a drug screening and background check
