Biography
Hunter Overton joined the Donald P. Bellisario College of Communications as an assistant teaching professor in the Department of Advertising/Public Relations after nearly two decades in industry. His background includes experience in business, operations, analytics and advertising, as well as serving in the U.S. Air Force.
Prior to his arrival at Penn State, Hunter played key roles in business analytics at Avail Technologies where he was responsible for managing a wide array of initiatives that focused on forecasting material demand using in-depth data analysis techniques, data modeling, and developing strategies for enhancing operational efficiencies.
He also served as director of technical operations at Advanced Video Group in Columbia, South Carolina, where he oversaw business operations and led advertising efforts focusing on local community engagement and targeting niche clientele using digital media. Prior to this, Hunter managed projects for the heavy construction and precast concrete industry throughout the southeast.
Hunter also served one tour in the United States Air Force Honor Guard where he executed various duties including conducting military honors for funerals in Arlington National Cemetery, ceremonial operations for President Barack Obama and foreign dignitaries, and performed with the USAF Drill Team.
Hunter earned a graduate certificate in business analytics from the Smeal College of Business at Penn State. He received his master of business administration from the Darla Moore School of Business at the University of South Carolina and a bachelor’s degree in business and Advertising from the Lubin School of Business at Pace University.
