Michael Krieger is an M.A. student in the Donald P. Bellisario College of Communications and the managing editor of the Journal of Information Policy. Originally from New York City, he completed his bachelor's degree in communication at the University of Massachusetts Amherst and his first master's degree at Sacred Heart University, where he also taught for two years as an adjunct instructor in the School of Communication and Media Arts.
His research interests include the social impact of media, culture and technology, social theory, and the sociology of knowledge. Previously his work has examined how audiences engage with and appropriate culture for their own social, political and economic purposes, surveillance culture, as well as the legal and sociotechnical architectures that shape our mediated interaction. Beyond academics, Krieger is an avid New York sports fan and enjoys spending his time reading history and watching documentaries.
